    Carrollton Benicar Lawyer

The Carrollton dangerous drug lawyers of The Parian Law Firm, LLC are currently looking into the link between the popular blood pressure medication Benicar (also known as Olmesartan medoxomil, Azor, & Tribenzor) and a rare gastrointestinal disease called Sprue-Like Enteropathy. Our Carrollton Benicar lawyers handle these cases all over America and will likely take part in nationwide lawsuits seeking to hold Benicar’s manufacturer liable for the injuries caused.

    Benicar Lawsuits

It is a type of blood pressure medication that works by blocking angiotensin receptors. The blockage of these receptors causes a hormone known as Angiotensin II to not set off the constriction of blood vessels. This causes the blood vessels to dilate, or loosen, thereby regulating blood pressure.

Benicar is not alone in the market of angiotensin receptor blockers. Many others exist (in fact these drugs generate over $7 billion for drug companies each year); however, Benicar is the only drug in the group that has been said to cause the rare gastrointestinal disorder known as Sprue-Like Enteropathy. The Carrollton Benicar attorneys of The Parian Law Firm, LLC hear from people weekly regarding Benicar side effects.

    Sprue Like Enteropathy

Many times, Sprue Like Enteropathy is initially diagnosed as Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is a disorder where a person’s digestive tract cannot tolerate glutens. The symptoms of Celiac Disease include diarrhea, flatulence, and weight loss. A person with Celiac Disease would test positive when tested by an anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody (IgA-tTG) test.

Sprue Like Enteropathy has similar symptoms as Celiac Disease, but much more severe. A person usually suffers from chronic diarrhea, significant weight loss, continuous nausea, and a look of malnutrition. Opposite of Celiac Disease though is that a person with Sprue Like Enteropathy tests negative when tested by an anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody (IgA-tTG) test. Our Benicar lawyers in Carrollton have heard lots of stories on the effects of Benicar.

    Potential Side Effects
